- You can insert a string of characters as prefixes, suffixes, in a custom position of the filename, after or before pre-defined text. Insertion of Meta Tags means ReNamer can extract various file details such as size, date of creation, folder name, ID3 and other tags supported by audio files, EXIF for images and many more.
- Delete characters from a specified position in the string complete with delimiter and count.
- Remove character occurrences from the filename string. It includes options to remove the first occurrence, the last occurrence, or all the occurrences of the specified string.
- Find and replace charaters within the filename with support for Meta Tags.
- Rearrange characters using delimiters, positions, patterns of delimiters; with support for Meta Tags.
- Change file extensions to a pre-defined choice or allow ReNamer to automatically detect and change the extension.
- Strip the filename of characters from the English alphabet, digits, symbols, brackets or a pre-defined set.
- Case change is available to capitalize every word, lower all cases, change all to upper case, invert case, turn the first letter to capital
- Incremental filename change using custom step, repeat and many other settings.
- Strip out content of brackets, replace multiple types of used characters with spaces thus cleaning the filename.
- Use translit conversion - This rule transliterates one alphabet into another.
- RegEx support is a feature for power users able to create regular expressions and further adds to the versatility of ReNamer. With RegEx you can create your very own rules.
- Use Pascal / Delphi programming syntax and conventions. ReNamer also provides built-in scripts.
- UserInput sets the new filenames to the names entered in a list.

ReNamer also supports presets that represent a set of rules saved by the used with a pre-defined name. The rules you use the most can be conveniently saved as presets and loaded instantly. This saves you a lot of time otherwise spent on creating the same set of rules each time you want to apply them. Combine rules together and create as many presets you need.

Another feature designed to save user time is the implementation of hotkey support. Each time you create a preset, a keyboard shortcut will be associated making it easier to apply.

Use the Analyze tool to apply rules to the text loaded. You can use samples of text, apply rules and see the output.

The graphical user interface is simple and convenient, it contains just two panels for the set of rules and list of files included. Preview is available within the files list automatically as you include rules one by one. Using it is quite straightforward, just add files one by one or a whole folder, apply filters if required. Add one or more rules or better yet a preset with the help of a hotkey. Preview will display the output without actually affecting the files and Rename will proceed and process all files in the list.
